The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global technology giant Microsoft to enhance cooperation in driving the digital transformation and green sustainable development of the maritime industry. This strategic partnership signifies the mutual commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and data analytics to optimize vessel route planning, enhance the safety of maritime operations, reduce emissions, and shorten vessel turnaround times.
The focus of the collaboration also includes training maritime workers, bolstering cybersecurity capabilities, and jointly developing new digital solutions. These efforts will particularly support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in improving energy efficiency, thereby promoting environmentally friendly practices across the industry.
MPA's Assistant Chief Executive Officer, David Foo, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating: "The partnership with Microsoft is a pivotal step in strengthening Singapore's maritime digitalization and sustainability.
